After a phenomenal season, some of our Shorian Swimmers still aren’t done yet. After winning divisions, the boys are hungry for more gold at the upcoming meet.
The boys had a fantastic season this year, not only winning gold at their division champs, but also picking up a Sportsmanship Award while Coach Robert Couck was awarded “coach of the year.” Their award winning season was sprinkled with other victories as the boys were named 6th in the country for the 400 free relay.
Malachi Conkel, sophomore, ended the season on a high note saying, “Overall, we did pretty good. I’m glad we won divisions.” The team is optimistic for the next season as Conkel continues on to say that the team will “Probably do even better next year.” Both he and the team believes there’s no doubt Lake Shore’s unstoppable swim team will be back next year, and out for gold.
As if the group triumphs weren’t enough, Lake Shore had their fair share of individual victories this year as well. With Ben Mitchell, junior, taking the title for the 200M at divisions, and picking up two more wins in the 500 free. The season ended great at division for Greg Moore, senior, as he took gold in the 100 fly at divisions. Among these victories, was a personal one for Couck as he welcomed his new baby girl to the scene in February. While the team has received many great triumphs this year, they’re optimistic about the upcoming season.
The boys swim team certainly represented the Shorian Nation this year, winning their division championships for the first time since 2009. This year’s team is already setting up for next season’s successes and gearing up for another award winning year at the pool.
